Why?
I see no downside- unless you desire secret confidences which you would be embarrassed to see posted or which others would find embarrassing to see out there, with people you cannot trust.

The issue here is the imposition of a "trust" on people who do not desire it. That's ridiculous- and no one should presume that someone they do not like, or who might not like them, will protect them. Of course that should be the standard. Anything else is a ridiculous burden.

We accept that burden from our friends, or even from people we are neutral on, but that's the only "standard" I think works. And it's awfully entertaining to see some of the snarky PM's too- so from that perspective I have to say there's a huge bonus in entertainment value to be had posting such PM's. I've seen it all over SI- from all sides, and I support it.
