Hi Mike: You are right, this thread should be for anyone interested in CAWS. And, I can't argue with many of your arguments. Some of these events really stink.
One minor correction--there was a one week period between GKM's upgrade and later downgrade. If the news articles are correct, and BA and NYNEX informally and internally decided to drop MMDS two months ago, then this is about the same time period of GKM's dodwngrade. I have always been leary of that timing. In fact, I filed a complaint with the SEC aainst them and posted instructions for how to file such complaints on-line.
I agree there has been some manipulation. I don't think, however, that CAWS is guilty of the manipulation. IF JA is to be believed, CAWS did not know it was not full speed ahead until the Times article. In my mind, there must have been some signs they should have seen.
As far as hype, IMO CAWS has really not hyped their product. In my minf, their crappy PR is one of their problems. Why have they not been pumping out stories on their new Internet servies? Innovative and faster than anying out there, yet it has gotten very little press in the technology and Internet world.
You are also correct that it is very unusual for a stock, which historically had been a $6 to $8 stock, jumps to 17 1/2 and falls to 1 1/4. There are alot of parts to this story (including the ending) which really stink and are very suspicous. |
