Pat, you always have to remember one thing about Technical Analysis > Do Good Fundamental Analysis.

>>>I think that charting can expose trends. This way you can see if you should buy now or wait a week when you've identified a fundamentally strong stock. I have problems when people try to use statistical analysis techniques to predict future moves from 'charts'.
This I view like weather forecasting, the farther out you go from 1 hour ahead, the less reliable, exponentially, the forecast becomes. :)<<<

I would agree that the farther out you go the more cloudy the crystal ball becomes, but Hey, they're getting better at weather forecasting all the time.

I have my system set up to scan for good candidates inre Technical formations > I then do my homework on the companys fundamental story.

Works both ways > when I find a compelling story stock with great fundamentals, I do a complete TA workup to look for an entry point.

Its the same old story. You can polish a pile of manure all day and you're just going to end up with dirty hands. Silk purses>sows ears. You know what I mean. Garbage in Garbage out. You can chart a bad stock all day and its still going to be a bad stock.

Its saved my butt more than once though when a stock is topping out. Sold alot of IOMG not at the tippy top, but close.(high 40s and a few at 50)

Problem is most people are so polarized when it comes to analysis. They either think TA is the only way or Fundamentals are the only way. When you combine them though, you get a sum greater then the parts. A very powerful tool.

I know that my portfolio is doing MUCH better the more TA I learn, Just as it did better as I began to do more research.

I have recently(3-4 months ago)started combining Japanese Candlesticks with Western style charting and Wow. It can be uncanny.

Whereas I used to take a week or more to see a pattern, Candles sometimes gives it to you in 2-3 days. You just have to be patient and wait for the pattern to develop. It can't be forced.

Gotta get to beddybye> Big day tomorrow. Should be fun. We can all look forward to Friday to BS each other on how we knew all along what was going to happen: )
Thanks
Jeff
