Good point, we do generally just let the laptop sit there and download stuff, and the battery is always constantly charged.

But I want a battery for the future. I used an iPad for making various travel arrangements on this vacation, and they are a pain in the butt compared to a laptop with a mouse and the easy ability to keep 4-5 browser pages open.

The laptop is about 6 years old, so i guess this was just unlucky timing. In fact, since we don't move it around much, the battery might have died YEARS ago and I just didn't notice it.
