Hello: When you sell a call, you sell a call to open (the box is "sell to open"). When you want to buy it back to cover, you buy to close (the box is "buy to close"). That is how I do it on Schwab. I am fairly certain, that is how it would be on etrade too. Happy Hunting Satish
