Selective WDM

DWDM has failed to take hold in the metro market as it has in the long-distance networks. While DWDM enables faster and cheaper deployment of high-bandwidth services, traditional DWDM rings are too expensive for most carriers to deploy widely, given that DWDM-scale bandwidth is only needed today in limited areas of the evolving metro network.
