"I am reading comments by many who seem to have known what was coming.... Where were these people a few weeks ago???" I can only write for myself. The sources I follow-including some commentary and stock market histories I've read-strongly suggested to me that a) we were in a bubble and b) just after the first of the year, the jig was finally up. I could not know this for sure. It was an augury. But, I made a personal decision--a reasoned guess, if you wish.
Now, as to your question, "where were these people a few weeks ago?" I made several posts including the announcement that I had sold all my shares on JDSU. Most responses I had to my posts at the time were reasoned, even if in disagreement. Some, however, were scoffs. One or two were personal attacks and that was weird. Had you read my posts, would you have acted as I did (sold)? Or, would you have scoffed? Heck, even the librarian in my small-town library chuckled at me.
"If you are that good, why bother hanging around these threads and wasting your time? You should be doing something better." This reads like bitterness, but my interpretation could very well be off base. If I am off base, sorry.
As for "doing something better," I have learned a lot from people in this thread, so I think I'll keep reading.
Also, please understand I do not feel good right now. I would rather have been able to stay in and see my stocks keep going up and I would don't think it is funny for people to have to take margin calls or even lose paper profits. This sucks.
