KellyW - Comaprison of stocks by technology. My father (BigInvestor) always told me that you should understand what a company does before buying stock in them, otherwise throw your money into the wind/fire/lottery/etc..
Comaprison of stocks by technology:
GALTF - makes (but doesn't completly debug) silicon for switched Etherent and MIPs CPUs. Great products, but horrible customer relations. Need to get bought out by a big player so they can design away and be taught a few lessons about working with (and not against) their customers.
MRVC - Interesting. Division of Nbase. Small Fry compared to Cisco, Cabletron, Bay.
TLDCF - makes wireless communications and telelphone equipment - small player compared to Lucent, Siemens - could get squashed unless they have some unique answer to the "local-loop"; the segment of wires from your house to the telephone companie's Central Office. MANY people are getting in on this market - xDSL, ADSL, HDSL, VHDSL, .... I think it's too early to tell how this market will shake out (technology is still young...)
If I had to make a decision (limiting it to one of these three), I'd buy into GALTF - Hot technology (myabe if your lucky, they will get bought out....) However, I'm not actually in the market to buy stock. Even though I would NEVER design in their CPU, I belive in market leaders, and I would buy Intel (all of my designs say: Intel Outside!!!!); I did just before the crash a few weeks ago....... |
