New investors, just watched Cramer tell someone over the airways to be very aggressive as a younger investor. I don'the believe you need to be overly aggressive unless that means 100% in the market. To me that means owning many individual stocks, day trading etc. Dollar cost averaging into broad based index funds, Fidelity, Vanguard, for ex. Over your lifetime can get the job done. Worked for me, and I'm only a high school grad. Over 30+ years, not spending much time at all watching the markets In retirement now at age 59, have approx. A 55- 45 stock funds to balanced funds portfolio. Vbiax, Vtmfx for balanced funds. Also Prwcx currently closed to new investors.
