Interesting article I accidently ran across tonight on 7-Eleven Japan.

Seven-Eleven Japan, NEC, Sony to brief on JV plan

TOKYO, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Seven-Eleven Japan Co Ltd , NEC Corp , Sony Corp and five other companies will hold a news conference at 4:00 p.m. (0700 GMT) on plans for a joint venture, a Seven-Eleven Japan spokesman said on Thursday.

An NEC spokesman separately said the new business would be an electronic commerce venture utilising Seven-Eleven Japan's nationwide network of convenience stores.

The other five companies are Nomura Research Institute Ltd, Mitsui & Co Ltd , Sony unit Sony Marketing, Japan Travel Bureau Inc and Internet content provider Kinotrope Inc.

Seven-Eleven Japan Chairman Toshifumi Suzuki, NEC President Koji Nishigaki and top officials of the other companies are scheduled to attend the news conference.
