I also wanted to answer a question that I received by PM:

"Does [the SI Communicator] mean that even if I do not have your instant messaging system and I am logged on SI that anyone will be able to see that I am online?"

No. If you have the Communicator active, you can only see other people who have the Communicator on. In addition, you can only see people who are on the same site as you are. You can't search for a person, and then see which site they're on.

If you and another Communicator user are "buddies" (in order to do this, someone has to make a request and the other has to accept), then you can see anytime they are online.
