I never thought of the now apparent lack of leadership situation causing so much turmoil within the Nasdaq. You certainly are correct in that the fierce competitive nature of Microsoft in both defending and subsequently advancing a technology vision is completely missing from the technology horizon. In addition, they were also postiioned to amplify the internet subscribers demands with its introduction of more premise based user applications and their need for interconnectivity. Your concept has a lot of merit. When IBM was dogged by DOJ, their compnay did spend a lot of effort in examingin their work in relation to remaining as one company. They dragged their feet in the minicomputer market, and later the pc market so they would not be broken up. While that occurred, we saw the makings of Microsoft during that leadership vaccuum time. We would be best served to understand that we are exactly experiencing that situation now, and look for the early signs of the next major growth firm in hopes of owning the next Microsoft. I think they will continue to retrench with the DOJ cloud overhead. Who might benefit?
