TBSI holders getting whacked hard with news of a pre-packaged BK that kills the equity. Lenders are being inordinately kind to companies in the current environment, making for what appears it will be a relatively soft landing in shipping... if not in the individual shipping stocks whose equity holders are being wiped out in favor of lenders. Seems likely that there will be other impacts from the change in lenders behavior... I'll have to think about that a bit more... It appears it "might" mean that the market for used boats isn't going to turn into the bloody massacre that it has tended to become in past downturns... and as the lenders are being more circumspect now, in the wake of mortgage market problems, about how their own ill considered decisions can tend to hurt themselves more than others ? That's probably bad news for boat builders... and it will also be likely to mean that a surplus of existing hulls will be getting carried into the cyclic recovery for longer than is typical... at a time when bankers rather than ship owners are calling the shots in spending on things like... core maintenance... That's probably becoming an argument for investing in emergency service providers... expecting there will be more problems... accidents and oil spills... I'm thinking, maybe, things like... EVTN... I'll have to look for names of tug services... and think more about related things ?
