Calian Announces Appointment of New Chief Financial
Officer

KANATA, ONTARIO--Calian (TSE: CTY) is very pleased to announce
that effective July 20th, 2000, Brian Aitken will be joining
Calian as its new Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
replacing Shaun McEwan who was recently promoted to President &
CEO. Brian joins Calian from Domtar, a large Canadian pulp and
paper/forest products company headquartered in Montreal where he
has been Vice-President, Treasury since 1998.

Prior to joining Domtar, Brian worked in Ottawa as Vice-President,
Finance/Chief Financial Officer of E.B. Eddy Limited between 1995
and 1998 and from 1980 to 1994, Brian worked for Alcan Aluminium,
both in Montreal and Toronto, where he held a series of senior
financial positions. Brian is a Chartered Accountant and a
graduate of McGill University.
