(NASDAQ:PKTR), a leading provider of Internet application infrastructure systems, today announced a significant new version of its advanced PacketWise operating software, the foundation of the company's PacketShaper and AppVantage product lines. PacketWise 5.0, the company's fifth-generation software, includes a number of new features that enable enterprise, ISP and ASP customers to more broadly deploy PacketShaper and AppVantage systems to proactively manage application performance and bandwidth in today's most demanding Internet environments.
With support for central policy management, high availability option for high-traffic networks, and new levels of flexibility for diverse LAN/WAN environments, PacketWise 5.0 provides reduced total cost of ownership and management. In addition, PacketWise 5.0 boasts an XML-based application program interface (API) to facilitate data exchange and gathering from Packeteer devices, and advanced classification capabilities with http sub-classification and support for 25 new applications.
