ICICI Home to offer floating rate loans

(Wednesday, February 9, 2000)

Avinash Celestine in Mumbai

ICICI Home Finance plans to launch a floating rate home loan product. This follows the introduction of similar products by other players in the housing finance industry.

Currently housing finance companies use their own internal benchmarks. HDFC, for instance, prices its adjustable rate home loan on the basis of its retail prime lending rate (RPLR) which is adjusted every six months.

ICICI Home Finance was incorporated as a 100 per cent subsidiary of ICICI Personal Financial Services in May last year and has a total housing loan portfolio of over Rs 200 crore as of December 31, 1999. It recently cut interest rates on its home loans to 12 per cent for a maturity of five years
