This is indeed a "good thing" if you are long, or looking for confirmation that the downward trend has changed to upwards. Stocks in uptrends have their shorter MA's above the longer ones, and vice versa for stocks in downtrends (duh!).

Choice of MA's can be personal preference, I usually just look at 50 and 200.

To me, more interesting than the crossover is the fact that it closed above the 200 DMA for the first time in a while. 200 DMA for this one has been sloping down or sideways since 1994 (!), and it is still slightly downwards. True confirmation of an uptrend would need the shorter MA's to climb above the 200, which would require the stock to trade over 2.75 for a while.

If I had money in this, I would not be too concerned about minor swings above and below 2.25, but I would set a mental stop just below 2, since that would break the now-rising 50 DMA, and 1.75 or below would be a danger.
