ANTEC Introduces LightMap Fiber Management Software

Integrated Software Provides Headend to Node Solution In One Module

ATLANTA, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ANTEC Network Technologies, the manufacturing division of ANTEC Corporation (Nasdaq:ANTC), will introduce the LightMap Fiber Software Administration System at the SCTE Show in Orlando, Florida on June 3, 1997.

LightMap provides broadband network operators with a complete software system to track the fiber, circuit and hardware in their growing fiber networks. Designed with a simple-to-use, point and click graphics system, users can build, display and print true-to-life replicas of their fiber cable paths. The system spans inside and outside plant to provide a complete headend to node solution on one module. Furthermore, LightMap displays important system elements and fiber routes on land based maps, allowing operators to quickly locate elements in their network.

``User simplicity was paramount in designing LightMap,'' said George Steenton, Fiber Product Line Manager of ANTEC's Network, Transport, Power, Interconnection & Passives Group. ``The LightMap system, with a Windows NT operating system and a Geographical Interface System, provides familiar operating procedures and easy feature upgrades.''

Additional advantages of LightMap include:

Creates and tracks all fiber management equipment, regardless of vendor; Equipment libraries are user defined to ease plant creation; Provides standard or custom-made reports on splicing, fiber routes and equipment inventory; ``Opti-Trace'' fiber and circuit tracking allows users to search the fiber/circuit path when troubleshooting, activating elements or reviewing locations; Open database technology allows existing data to be imported into the system in its original format; Users at the headend can develop floor plans and rack facial drawings; track available rack space; and identify the equipment installed, its location, status, signal destination and mode of service.

``LightMap software complements ANTEC's full line of fiber management hardware and fiber apparatus,'' said Dave Stehlin, President of Network Transport, Power, Interconnection & Passives. ``It was developed in response to ANTEC's customers who needed a system to help them manage their valuable assets and compete in a changing marketplace.''

ANTEC's booth #1174 at the SCTE Show will feature a hands-on demonstration of the LightMap Software System.
