When a contest ends on a Friday, I prefer using the weekend rule: so the new picks can be on the weekend before the market opens on 7/3. We don't want market-breaking news to affect picks for those who decide early. But there are Russell cross-currents and lots of factors at 6/20 - 7/3. Markets close at 1 PM Monday. I prefer having through 11:59 PM 7/1 or even 7/2 to make my picks. The longer game, into November is OK.
