Takes many bullets to bring down an airliner.

Remember the B 17 five hundred holes than made it back to UK, with 145 octane fuel, while jet's fuel is much more crude.

Or even better, Morocco king Hassan II August 72' return whose Boeing 727 took a few missiles that crossed the wings and exploded afterwards, more than one hundred bullets wounding many dozens, killing about a dozen, and the pilot, captain Kabbadj, a Moroccan, their only native airline captain safely landed the plane, downwind, 200 miles later. He got 200K$ bonus next day.

The jet "villains" were nice guys too btw. I strongly doubt the CIA did not know of the plot before. Those military Moroccan pilots (4)were excellent friends of their US collegues on their somehow common Kenitra US base...
Strange world, heh ?
