Steve:
Different Novell employees have requested specific suggestions on how Novell could do better. Similar experiences that you, I, and others have had with the IR dept., suggest to me one such suggestion.
Replace the IR dept. with a computer and a clerk. Any electronic message, such as E-mail, would be scanned by the program for key words, such as 'revenues', 'acquisitions', etc. and respond immediately back with the stock answers of "We appreciate you taking the time to inquire about what is being done to grow revenues. Let me assure you that, all that can be done, is being done. Etc., etc." . The clerk would be used to transcribe Voice mail messages and postal mail. Also, to reboot the NT as needed.
The advantages are: lower costs and more immediate responses. I really can't see any disadvantages, although I will admit, the responses would not be any better than now.
If it works out well, maybe it could replace other departments such as marketing.

(Possiblely, a dog would be needed. One is required in the joke about the automated warehouse has one button to push and the one employee) |
