There's nothing we can do (short of elimination) that will convince ISIS to leave us alone.
I'm talking to a liberal here, so appeasement is a concept he would understand.

One of my liberal friends on FB downplayed the likelihood that ISIS would attack us by comparing their threats to those made by North Korea.

How utterly naive can they be? Last time I checked, we're not #prayingforparis because North Korea attacked them.
