I will ban Sidney if he doesn't stop. As I have said in about a dozen posts recently, I am trying to get everyone used to following the rules against name calling. There are several male posters on this thread who are sort of testing the limits at the moment, in my opinion. They are slinging names around, but I personally don't consider that the level of their misconduct rises to the level of the three posters who were banned. The posts that they are writing are not really malevolent at the core. I AM asking them to stop.

Sidney's views on almost every subject are seriously to the right of Attila the Hun's, and yours, so there is no political bias at all.

You know what? If this thread just disintegrates into a whole bunch of posts about what rises to the level of a ban or not--a big fight about it--I will just ban everyone who posts here and shut the thread down, because I have an actual life and I'm finding this discussion very petty. I have deliberately kept the banning process totally transparent and can defend all my decisions, but they are my decisions and there are hundreds of places at SI where there are no standards of behavior at all, so everyone can go play over there.

I COULD just make it so that posters mysteriously disappear without comment. I have no desire to dominate; I was just trying to be fair and open. If that doesn't work--anyone can start a thread. Please, everyone who wants to try to monitor one--go ahead! You all have my blessings and best wishes.
