Hi All

Said I wouldn't post until Plaintree product was developed.
What do you all think the possibilities are for Plaintree's new product. (Now don't close your mind take a look and than decide).
Plaintree CEO had said product would be ready for beta test in Oct. (product is ready now) and ready for market in Dec.
Product description, waiting to hear of contracts. May be worth watching until announced and than deciding whether worth owning this stock. DO own DD. Not a recommendation to buy. Trades on TSE LAN or OTCBB LANPF

PLAINTREE ANNOUNCES THE NEW WAVEBRIDGE MULTIPLEX SERIES OF
FIBERLESS PRODUCTS

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - October 10, 2000.

Plaintree Systems Inc. (Plaintree)")(TSE: LAN; NASD-OTC BB: LANPF) announces its latest product release, the
WaveBridge Multiplex (MT) series of infrared fiberless links to provide fast, high-speed connectivity. This
high-bandwidth solution cures the ongoing problems of frequency and interference experienced with competing
radio frequency (RF) solutions by using the infrared spectrum. In addition, WaveBridge solutions do not require
licensing in comparison to RF or microwave solutions which do require licensing.

The new WaveBridge MT series is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Global System for
Mobile (GSM) communications and Internet Service Provider (ISP) markets. These links enable ISP and GSM
customers to transmit data at high bandwidth speeds over Ethernet, while continuing to offer E1/ T1 speeds
together or separately in the same unit. Essentially, this means that a user can access its telephone lines and
Ethernet data transmission over the same link.

"This is just the first of a number of product releases that Plaintree will be announcing over the next two
Quarters," said David Watson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Plaintree Systems. "The ISP market has
strongly requested this Multiplex product which offers unique capabilities. We have completed the design work
on this product substantially ahead of schedule," Mr. Watson continued, "and we are also on track for our
dedicated WaveBridge Telco series and our WaveBridge ATM series, which will meet the higher-capacity
requirements in the marketplace. Plaintree has listened to its target customers and is working very hard to meet
their requirements and frankly, the response has been beyond our original expectations."

About Plaintree Systems

Founded in 1988, Plaintree Systems Inc. is a leading manufacturer of network switches and optical fiberless LAN
and telecommunications products. Using infrared (LED) technology, Plaintree's high quality products offer
high-speed data and voice transmission without any licensing requirements. These links are easy to install and
once installed are safe, secure, reliable and robust so avoid costly network downtime. Unlike other network
solutions, these fiberless links can be densely co-located to provide big bandwidth connectivity without the
frequency problems associated with crowded airwaves. The technology is a cost efficient alternative to the
expense of laying cable to connect the 'last mile'. Internet service providers and cellular operators are just some
of the potential markets for Plaintree's systems. Another high potential niche market is the avionics industry -
where radio frequencies are tightly regulated.

Plaintree Systems is headquartered in the Ottawa region and operates manufacturing facilities for both switches
and wireless products in Arnprior, Ontario. Plaintree is publicly traded in Canada on the TSE and in the U.S. on
the OTC Bulletin Board, with 85,659,869 shares outstanding. Plaintree maintains a world-wide web site at
http:\\www.plaintree.com.

EACH UNIT IS WORTH $10,000

Yes they have started production. When I talked to thier IR people they told me that their intitial run was for a thousand units...which at $10,000 a pop
(the price quoted from CEO Watson's radio interview) gives a nice round number of $10 million

PLAINTREE SYSTEMS READY FOR THE "FIBERLESS" EXPLOSION

OTTAWA, Ontario (August 24, 2000) - Plaintree Systems Inc. (TSE: LAN; OTC BB: LANPF)

President and CEO, David Watson, says "the fiberless optical market is ready to explode and Plaintree will be
ready when it happens". Watson has spent the last six months having face-to-face discussions with potential
customers and the competition around the world.

Plaintree has moved quickly to expand the team to help meet these upcoming opportunities by adding the
following key team members:

MARKETING:

Bill White as Director of Marketing

SALES:

Colin Welch, Regional Sales Rep, previously a leading sales rep at PAV
Mike Salustri, Regional Sales Rep, a leading sales rep from Silcon
Jason Lee, Regional Sales Rep, top salesperson from the networking industry

ENGINEERING

David Kahn, Vice President of Product Development, one of the top photonics research engineers in the
world
Thomas Milc, Physical Design Engineer, leading physical designer from Nortel and a former Plaintree
team leader
Dermit Kavanaugh, Manager of Standards, also from Nortel
Duncan Wilcox, Manager of Electronic Design, from Alcatel, Europe
Ilia Ekchtout, Physical Design Engineer from JDS Uniphase
Design Workshop, a leading industrial design house is now contracted for key design work, combining
form and function.

Top names in both the GSM and ISP markets have shown a strong interest in Plaintree's optical fiberless
technology. A number of these customers are flying from as far away as Europe and the Middle East to view
Plaintree's operations and design work. According to some market research, it is reported that the GSM market
represents a possible $1/2 billion in potential optical fiberless business. There are currently about 200,000 ISPs
around the world and that number is growing. ISP market estimates have yet to be determined.

Plaintree's optical fiberless technology will offer a solution to some of the infrastructure problems of crowded
airwaves that have arisen with the abundant use of RF and microwave technology. Plaintree System's wireless
links use a completely eyesafe LED technology. This differs from the more commonly used laser products that
may result in eye damage if viewed through a telescope or binoculars. These infrared fiberless products offer
high-speed data transfer that answer the demand for big bandwidth. Plaintree also develops and manufactures
intelligent backbone and workgroup switches, which makes it one of the few companies to provide a complete
solution to the 'last mile' problem.

Plaintree anticipates its aggressive investment in engineering will result in potential fiberless product releases in
this current year. In responding to the needs of their potential customers, Plaintree is one of the few companies
with the experience and existing manufacturing to accommodate the volume of product that will be required to
meet the demands of the ISP and GSM markets.
