David -

I just got my new VISA card from Schwab. Old one was valid from 02/96 thru 02/98. New one is valid from 01/98 thru 08/99.

I've just received a new family Visa card with expiry of 12/31/00. While I haven't personally used it, my wife reports using hers several times with no problems. This card is for an completely new account.

When I'm in checkout lines using my personal 11/99 expiry Visa I'm now in the habit of asking the merchants if they've seen "00" cards & if there have been any problems.

So far the vote is split... some say "no problems", others say "I've had such problems, I automatically ask for a different card."... reach your own conclusions as to where the problems are.

I also have another friend (who takes credit cards) who's been watching the bunching of expiry dates up to 11/99. While he only does 20 or 30 card transactions per month, so far he's not seen anything beyond 11/99.

Conclusion... answers all over the map.
