If DDI/DDO is installing 1x right now with operation slated for the end of this year or early next year, and ASICs for 1x scheduled to ship by the second half of this year, how is it that CDMA2000 is two years behind Asia and Europe?

1x is the first implementation of real 3G. 1xHDR will meet all of the 3G specifications for data speeds and voice capabilities. To say that Asia is going with W-CDMA and is ahead of the US is to say that DDI isn't in Asia.

That report from the Strategis group is erroneous. I could post reports that would contradict the Strategis report but they have posted here already. I'd rather not participate in the practice of posting old articles. That just clouds the debate.
