>>(This is 1/3 of our daily oil consumption)<<

Wharfie, you're confusing this with the main tanker terminal hundreds of miles away at the north slope pipeline terminus in Valdez.

The Drift River Terminal is a just a small local operation about 100 miles west of Anchorage that handles oil from the aging Cook Inlet field. This oil is shipped across the inlet to the nearby refinery at Nikiski and processed into gasoline and jet fuel for local consumption.

Drift River oil moved; alert level lowered
SHUTDOWN: Tanker removes oil from facility; 10 offshore platforms to suspend operations.
