They were.

Our homicide numbers really skew the data because so many of them involve young people. Like infant mortality, because the victims are so young, one death had an outsized impact on the averages.

Can you imagine the chant from the rabble"" we're #1,we're #1 because we kill more of our citizens by homicide and accident"" and lol

It would be both ironic and in poor taste but valid.

What would really be ironic would be if we were to somehow cut our homicide rate concurrent with the enactment of Obamacare, the Obamacare advocates would probably give the health care system credit for the improvement in the statistics.
