Ah yes. The Field of Dreams school of economic theory. Too bad reality intrudes... Without demand, there is no market to sell into. Period. This supply side bullshit has flopped repeatedly over the decades. Picking up the corpse, brushing off its clothes and propping it up with a broomstick does not make it viable. The iPhone is a perfect example. It didn't create the market, the market was already there. They were just Blackberries, made in the US and Canada and not iPhones, made in China. There were other players, remember Palm? PDAs anyone? So the demand was there, it just had a different market leader. The iPhone didn't burst onto a market of flip phones, it was a more diverse market than that. Apple fanboy revisionist history not withstanding. Production without a market is a market failure. The history of technology is littered with them. Remember when Microsoft was going to dominate the tablet market in the 1990s? Or the whole range of Internet enabled semi-tablets that Intel was pushing in the early 2000s? Or, well the list is long. There is no evidence you can just create demand by spending taxpayer dollars Even if that were true, and it isn't, you are trying to change the topic. Like you usually do when you are on the losing end of a discussion.
