My facts are from Silicon Investor.

The profile for Wind River is at techstocks.com. It states that the number of shares was 23.5m on 10/31/95 and 28.2m on 1/31/97, which is a big increase.

Since the company sold shares at 18 last July and the price is 19 5/8 today, the company either believes the shares are overpriced or the company is worth at least $46m more than last July. That seems unlikely, since they've only earned $7.8m since last July.

After costs it would be silly to buy back those shares now. That would be mismanagement. I assume they raised that cash for something. I guess we still have to wait and see on that. But we can be thankful that WIND was wise enough not to acquire any companies with that cash "pre-crash".

You're absolutely right. The company was indeed very wise to sell shares when the stock was overpriced.

I assume that it would not be Jerry Fiddler making those kinds of decisions but Ron Abelmann. If you don't know who the players are it's kind of hard to do play-by-play.

Jerry Fiddler is the founder of the company, chairman of the board, and owns 2,741,070 shares. Ron Ablemann is the CEO and he owns 288,063 shares. Ron Ablemann works for Jerry Fiddler. If you want something done at Wind River, Jerry Fiddler is the man to speak to.
