It would be a supreme irony if the neocons, who loathe and detest the UN, concluded that they had to undertake a radical reform of the UN as their least bad option.


As a psuedo-neocon of the Canadian strain, I don't see this as a bad thing at all. It will depend of the nature of the reforms. I think the neocons will be happy if the reforms allow American military power to be an effective deterrant in the world. I think many nations in the world might agree to that in order to make the use of American power be less ad hoc. Of couse, as the global cop, the US might want to the only veto. Interesting fact, for close allies: the USA, England, Spain and Japan account for 49% of the UN's budget.

The other day someone said I am pro-American. While true, it is more accurate to say I am pro-Sherrif. Go Sheriff Go. Kick some bad guy butt. The most peaceful towns are the ones with the most effective sherrif.
