<The only person that knows the Novell secret is Bill Gates.>

That is correct. He knows, and if he could take it for his own, we would all be swimming in money now ( even the really long who have posted).

But he can't take it, JD scrutiny in other areas means he can't do anything to inflame them. Lucky for him so far Novell has been inept at communicating to the outside world (but not inept at engineering, they are very, very, good there.)

I'll bet he is very scared that Novell is going to get the communication part right before he can wade through the technical morass he must to get his stuff bullet-proof at the enterprise level.

What I can't understand is why Novell can't communicate. It is very easy, compared to engineering. Hire a team and communicate, it would be the best investment possible of interest off that 1 billion, and the returns from it would be staggering, in the billions.

In nearly every case, Gates has bought large chunks of others technology and turned it into his own, at great advantage to him. Now he is too successful to grab Novell, though HE KNOWS what they have.
