Hifn's Latest Security Processor Yields Lowest Cost-Per-Transaction For E-Commerce Servers Hifn's SSL Public Key Accelerator Delivers 4,000 Secure Sessions per Second For Under $100 LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Hifn(TM) (Nasdaq: HIFN - news), the network security and flow classification market leader, today introduced a high-performance, scalable and low-cost public key processor for optimized SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Internet e-commerce servers. The new device, the 6565, provides a solution for mid-range to high-end SSL e-commerce web servers. The 6565 security processor solution is ideal for mainstream e-commerce servers, enabling 4000 SSL PK (Public Key) sessions per second for $100.
(Photo: newscom.com ) ``At 40 sessions per dollar, Hifn's 6565 provides the optimal price/performance solution for SSL e-commerce servers. The 6565 feature set is a result of extensive market analysis and feedback from customers and partners looking for a scalable solution that enables key 'sweet spot' price/performance points,'' says Danny Chi, Hifn product marketing manager. ``As an example, a major credit card company's peak load of SSL transactions, during the peak holiday season, was approximately 2500 per second. That statistic defines the performance requirement for a medium to high-end e-commerce server -- and that is precisely where the 6565 is targeted.''
The 6565 is based upon Hifn's proven network security architecture and may be used with other Hifn security processors to perform bulk encryption tasks. It is designed for easy integration into Internet e-commerce servers, with the available hardware, reference design and software required to reduce time to market and provide maximum reliability. A reference design board is also available, consisting of a hardware evaluation board with Hifn's public key processor, a rich Application Program Interface (API) for the most widely used public key cryptography algorithms, and documentation that includes detailed hardware and software specifications.
A single 6565 performs up to 2,000 1024-bit RSA transactions per second, with support for 2048-bit RSA keys. For VPN applications, a maximum of 1,020 IKE main-mode tunnels per second can be created, consisting of two 180-bit Diffie-Hellman exchanges, one RSA sign and 2 RSA verifies using a 1024-bit modulus. Large data bursts are supported. Multiple 6565s may be easily combined to provide the optimal level of performance for the target server load; for example, up to 4,000 sessions can be handled with two 6565s for $100 and up to 6,000 sessions for $150.
The 6565 can be configured to use either a 32-bit PCI 2.1 interface or a direct-access interface. The PCI interface gives the system designer the option of creating a 6565-based PCI card for host systems with available PCI slots. The 6565 is software compatible with Hifn's 6500 public key processor, making it possible for existing customers to easily migrate to the new product. The 250 MHz 6565 is packaged in 160-pin HQFP or 256-pin BGA, 0.18 micron CMOS process. Core voltage is 1.5V.
The Hifn 6565 is priced at $49.50 in 10K quantities. Prototype samples for alpha customers are available now, with production deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2002. |
