To select the 1997 MVP finalists, PC Computing's editors conducted an exhaustive review of thousands of computer hardware, software, Internet and networking products, evaluating them for usability, performance, technology, innovation and value.
This year's 225 MVP finalists span 77 categories, making the MVP finalist roster an invaluable buyer's guide. Editors expanded the 1997 product category list to reflect the continued explosion of the Internet as an essential business platform; the proliferation of fast and inexpensive systems; and the development of a new generation of hardware products, such as ultra-high-speed modems and removable storage, all designed to meet the needs of doing business on the Internet.
