So let me get this straight. You're not afraid of Y2K for a "real" reason but for a behavioral reason, i.e. people will behave irrationally and case real economic problems. This reminds me of Keynes', "trying to guess better than the crowd how the crowd will behave..." In other words trying to do the impossible.
