"Steve B: do you make anything of the put activity today???"
I don't see much weird with the puts. A little activity in a couple strikes, but I wasn't watching to see if they were buys or sells, and with the swinging at the end, it's tough to tell.

Remember, selling a put is almost identical to buying stock and writing a covered call, ie bullish at this point.
The buyers of puts were probably just trying to protect their downside on their long stock position in case we pull an ICIX kind of day. Just a conservative play that wouldn't bother me.

"how about the late trading???" Don't know anything about it.
