... this afghanistan thing is looking really dicey... the u.s. needs a land base there.
ok here's the ticket.
the u.s. and iran agree that iran should be the 51st state... the u.s. also takes basra from iraq and it becomes part of iran. all of kurdistan is given to the turks.
so iran loses its share of kurdistan but gains basra. iraq loses basra and its share of kurdistan. turkey gets all of kurdistan. iran becomes 51st state.
then we adopt the system of zoarastrianism.
after that we sweep through afghanistan and pakistan, meeting up with the indians whom we make peace with. india volunteers to be the 54th state, after afghanistan (52) and pakistan (53).
to appease china would could figure out how to clone 200 million wives for them.
how to deal with china... that's the question...
in the mideast israel could take everything south of turkey.
that would be a trip.
the best thing would be to figure out how to make all of these other countries part of the united states.
at the end of ww2 patton wanted to fight the red army. he didn't get his way.
he was training some ex-wermacht or ss and got into some trouble for that.
he said 'look, these (german) bastards want to fight the reds.' he was made to stop though.
it's pretty safe to say that the brits were not in for another fight. they all wanted to go home. it's questionable whether the americans there were up for it either.
say though that it really had happened; that patton had gotten his way and attacked the reds. for one thing, it would have had to have started before august of 1945 because once those first two bombs were dropped on japan, the word is that they couldn't build any more for 6 months.
a war without a-bombs between the soviets and the british-americans would have been massive. many think off-hand that the western allies with all of their air power would have won. the soviets though had a huge air force by 1945. what they didn't have was a strategic component. in fighters and ground attack aircraft they were superb.
by mid-1945 the soviets had the best tank fleet in the world. their js-2 and later js-3 tanks took the allies by surprise with their advanced design. i believe those js-tanks were the precursor to the 't54' and whatnot.
the is-2/3 had a 120mm long cannon with thick frontal armor and decent mobility. the americans and brits had nothing like it. the closest thing was the pershing which in may of 1945 was only available in limited numbers. the standard russian tank, the t34-85 was arguably superior to 90% of the western allied tank force at that time.
the war patton wanted would have perhaps been bloodier than the war against germany which had just ended.
what the americans could have done would have been to have made a deal with the japanese. the two countries could have ceased hostilities and the u.s. could have provided troops and logistical support to japan's already-existing mainland asian armies... then with u.s. backing the japanese could have taken siberia from the soviets while patton tried to go up against them in western europe; again a very dicey situation, probably dependent upon the availability of those a-bombs. if they had not been first used on japan, who knows what might have happened?
we could have turned everything into new states.
perhaps 1945 was the real opportunity for the u.s. to have instituted the 'united states of the world.'
i still say it's possible, but with exported culture other than mtv and mcdonald's. we need to get them all some foghat, elp, king crimson, yes... you know... from blues-rock to prog...
we need a miracle. how do you get really poor people to stop having children? around 25,000 die every day of hunger. we don't hear about them because to many of us they aren't human.
the u.s. is the best place in the world. it 'sucks less' than any other place. but man if the u.s. is the best the world has to offer, .... well then what a world indeed...
what we may need is zoarastrian gynocracy...
