Houston- Chicago demographics and homicides compared:

Both have 2M+ ppl and demographics that aren't that different.

There is no registration of guns or gun owners in TX. Houston has a concealed carry law, Chicago doesn't. Stores that sell only guns, ammo, and gear: 184 vs zero. Plus there are a whopping 1500+ places to buy guns in Houston (most of these sell lots of other things but guns too) and none in Chicago. So for every 1433 people in Houston, there is a place that sells guns. I guess Walmarts, Targets, etc and sporting goods stores don't have gun departments everywhere.

So how come Chicago has such a higher homicide rate?
