I think AMD should sell cacheless version of Athlon as their entry level product, and they should call it something other than Athlon.

I don't think I have seen any benchmarks, but it should run on par or better than Celeron. This is a longer therm strategy. K6 (II, III, + or whatever) is a dead end product.

I think the whole K6 line should be retired as soon as possible. Any money spend perfecting is could be spend better on Athlon core and other enhancements.

And of course this chip should be use a socket, not a slot.

PS: Athlon pricing update:
I posted here (and on JC's) when Athlon was released that within a year of the release, I would be able to buy one for $100, and I was widely ridiculed. So about 6 months into production, the entry level part is $172 on Pricewatch.
