I love the idea of a conscious universe, but how would we test if the universe is conscious?

We can’t test for it, as we couldn’t for Einstein’s special theory of relativity. That doesn’t mean the idea isn’t very important. You need the theory first, to develope the tests. And they can take generations.

That said, I think we’re probably wrong about most everything. We seem to disprove far more than we “prove”.

So yes, speculation is our game, we love and play it very well with great joy.
