Obama Frees Drug Dealer w/Silencer
"They had dealt at least $500,000 worth of drugs over 10 months" December 21, 2015 Daniel Greenfield
On the one hand, Obama is constantly lecturing us about the need for "common sense reforms" to abolish certain portions of the Bill of Rights that he doesn't like because of all the gun violence. On the other hand, he has thrown his political support behind the drug dealers and gang members defended by racist groups such as #BlackLivesMatter who are responsible for most of the shootings.
And he keeps freeing drug dealers. And despite the "non-violent offender" claims, they are very much the violent kind.
Take his latest pardons and commutations. On the list is one Alex Contreras of Anchorage, Alaska.
Offense: Drug conspiracy; distribution of a controlled substance (four counts); possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance (four counts); using, carrying, possessing firearm during drug trafficking crime (three counts) (District of Alaska)
He was sentenced to more than 40 years in jail back in 2002. Instead he'll be out in April 2016.
Why did Contreras receive such a severe sentence? Here's a little context.
The men, ages 19 to 23, were part of a highly active circle that moved cocaine and crack cocaine and protected its drugs and money with an arsenal of weapons, prosecutors said. The men were sentenced Thursday and Friday.
The men were arrested last fall following a five-month undercover investigation by local and federal agencies. Most of the men are from the Dominican Republic.
They had dealt at least $500,000 worth of drugs over 10 months, mostly in Anchorage, by the time they were arrested, prosecutors said.
Alex Contreras, 19, was given the most time. A jury convicted Contreras on three gun charges and multiple drug charges.
And some more context...
A grand jury indicted him on multiple counts of selling crack and cocaine and for using guns as he dealt drugs from a mobile home in Airport Heights. The prosecution had a videotape of the man and fellow members of a largely Dominican gang attaching a crude silencer to a handgun, bags of the illicit drugs scattered on a nearby table.
There aren't a lot of reasons that a drug dealer needs a silencer.
Obama has gone way beyond his old crack cocaine fetish. He's not pardoning people who just happened to be caught with drugs or even drug mules. He's letting out extremely dangerous drug dealers.
Contreras was part of a gang of heavily armed drug dealers who were moving a lot of product. He spent less than half his term in prison. He's perfectly positioned to resume his old line of work now.
So how did this happen? Thank Eric Holder.
We've talked a lot about how Obama and Rice have been aggressively pushing Defense Secretaries to sign off on freeing Al Qaeda terrorists from Gitmo. Obama has even demanded that Congress bypass the Secretary of Defense to let him free terrorists directly. Because there is a law in place.
However when it comes to freeing drug dealers, Holder outsourced the vetting to pro-crime groups.
The process toward commutations is lengthy and rarely successful, a problem that Obama sought to remedy last year. He and then-Attorney General Eric Holder enlisted a group of criminal-justice-oriented organizations, including FAMM, the American Bar Association, the ACLU, and the NAACP, to pre-screen potential clemency applicants in an effort to mitigate the Justice Department’s cumbersome process.
So the fox has been put in charge of the chicken coup. Advocates in charge of criminals are pre-screening criminals for pardons. And that's why a drug dealer who was caught on camera with a silencer will be free again.
