Good link to the article you referenced: nytimes.com Interesting article. Not a hack, but a spurious code thrown by the onboard computer which disabled my cruise control and caused 4 dash warning lights to come on prompting a trip to my Subaru dealership last week. Very quickly resolved at no charge, but no, I didn't fill the gas tank while the engine was running or drive with the gas cap off which the errant diagnostic code indicated. Long gone are the days when we could resolve most of the under the hood problems ourselves.
