The move suggests that export restrictions on the Dutch company's equipment may have been imposed too late to block China's advances in chipmaking technology, the sources reportedly said. The US has been collaborating with the Netherlands and Japan to prevent China from getting access to advanced semiconductor technology, Bloomberg reported. The 7-nanometer chip in question is used in Huawei's Mate 60 Pro smartphone, according to the report. ASML declined to comment and that there's no suggestion that the company's sales breached export restrictions, Bloomberg reported. SMIC didn't reply to a request for comment, Bloomberg said.
