I know what you mean. I bought a used trailer in '72 with central air. The problem was that the power would surge and trip the breaker after I left for work and that sucker would bake for 10 hours. Then it would take all night for the air to cool it down. And yep, I had some fancy candles that melted. Kind of hard on the cat too.

In the winter the pipes would freeze and the wind was always blowing out the pilot to the water heater.
