My understanding is that Bell Labs, the predecessor to Lucent sold its adsl technology to the predecessor org. that became Amati.

Lucent did its best to get CAP accepted as a/the standard. Looks like they have lost out.

So, if they are smart, and they prob. are, and they want to cont. to be a major source of tech. and equip. to the rebocs, AT&Tand internationally, why would it not make sense for them to swallow their pride and attempt to buy their technology along with the improvements back.

Perhaps a similar case could be made for Nortel.

No doubt, AMTX is an attractive idea for a lot of bees and wannabees in the electronic supplies area. i.e. USRX, Cisco, Motorola, Allied Sig. Honeywell etc, etc.

By the way, I have info. from a reliable source that GTE will not be using the Oracle 8 in the roll out of its national internet access program now sched. for early Q2. Don't know why. Also don't know who's modem will be used, poss. WSTL. Who was the 3rd supplier in the trial in Wash.?

Regards:
Cliff
