There is no reason to think that deaths will drop dramatically in Texas over one year. Also there is no reason for that to happen in order to think that more guns = more murder, or even to think more guns = less murder.

For one thing I doubt there will be dramatically more guns in Texas in a year then there are now. They already have a lot of guns, and a fairly liberal concealed carry law. Also they have followed the "castle doctrine" in terms of home defense since 2007 (and I don't think they were tough against armed home defense before that). Another thing is that there isn't any good reason to think that the effect of more guns, whichever direction it goes, is an enormous one which swamps all other factors.

What recent change do you think would tend to cause Texas to have a lot more or a lot fewer murders?
