What do you mean by “voting left”.

Democrat, of course. You don't like the word "Left" or "Liberal" applied to you, although those on the right have learned to accept "Right." I find using "Right" and "Left" useful. I use "Far" in front of left or right to describe those on the fringe.

And in the primaries, of course, the "Fringe" tends to control. So we have the "Social Conservatives" against the "Liberal Peaceniks".

I feel out of it here in Waikiki, and you are even further out of it in the Philippine Jungle. I checked the time zones yesterday. John and Shiloh Cat are six hours ahead of me, and I am six hours ahead of you. It makes me realize how vast the Pacific is when I realize that I am as far from Manila as I am from New York.

I already listed by Op Ed favorites today. Since the wall went down, Economic Policy is pretty well established in the US as Capitalism, although we still have a lot of refugee Socialists making noises, usually under the guise of "Environmentalism" or "Globalism."

But Social Welfare policy has still split the country into opposite camps. And the war/antiwar split is jarring. I hadn't realized how strong pacifism had become until 911.
