Never thought of this aspect before....Maybe we are so used to defending our decisions, that others haven't thought of it either. Of course, the western 'buddy' is NOT responsible for the 'tyrannical "buddy"'.

Apparently many people think there is a category of international relations known as buddyship. Via "buddyship", the western "buddy" country becomes morally responsible for all the sins of the tyrannical "buddy" and even the existence of the tyrannical "buddy".
