In my opinion, the brokerages know in advance of the analysts comments, or downgrades and either buy or short the stock on the basis of that "advance information." All of us individual investors with much smaller positions can only react after the anaylsts have spoken. This is something the SEC needs to look at, basically how much information the analysts receive and how that info moves the market. GV Tucker did not agree with me about market makers, and perhaps I should have said brokerages, or analysts, etc.
