Hi Matt,
to the benefit of the thread, I have PM Matt on the subject of "Shorting" and as usual Matt was very professional in responding to my inquiries as he has done on his thread.
I have been lurking on SI for the past 6 months and found different attitudes when it came to investing. Two of those are, first, members who complain about MM manipulation when these MMs are purposely bringing down the price of shares on very low daily volume and secondly, a very strong understandable hatred of Shorter.
Given the above, that I fully endorse, would it be possible for any one of us to also take advantage of this investment feature (shorting), when one has the mean and the opportunity to do so? (Shorting become only an additional tool in your investment strategy)
Now Matt, I know you've emphasized it many times on your thread that shorting is a very risky business. However, do you think that shorting a stock that is part of your long portfolio provides the same level of risk? The phrase "buy low and sell high" comes to mind when dealing with BB stocks. Would it be logical to short your long position when they have run up above 100% over 3 days and take advantage of profit taking that normally follows such run?
TIA Matt
Daniel
P.S. I have never shorted a stock as of this date, but I am looking into it as part of an overall investment strategy. |
